Stockholm Syndrome

Squatting is no longer the only option for starving artists abroad.

June 16th, 2009

Creators Inn, a collaborative concept between Swedish fashion line Elvine and design agency Next Century Modern, offers free, short-term accommodation and free wi-fi to artists visiting the alpine archipelago. “We try to support up-and-coming creators, the ones who would normally end up on someone’s couch,” explains NCM’s co-founder Jesper Larsson. “The aim is to give something back to the travelers whose presence contributes to a more interesting city.” Guests stay at the Scandic Malmen hotel in Södermalm, a hotbed of boutiques, restaurants, and music venues. And lest you lose sleep thinking it skimps on service, Creators Inn provides everything from slippers to a personal guide service.
