Plucked from the streets of Moscow or the cornfields of Iowa, so many models arrive to New York with high cheekbones, a narrow waist and very little knowledge of fashion.
Once they start working, however, they absorb much, which is kind of inevitable when everyone you work with – casting agents, stylists, designers – is obsessed with fashion. And so, before long, the fresh-faced teens ditch the leopard-print T-shirts or the overalls and start dressing well. Really, really well. So well that they sometimes look as good backstage, before the show, as they do on the runway. Here, some of our favourite backstage looks from yesterday's Marc by Marc Jacobs show.
